World Animal Day In Syria


تفاصيل : Animal world day 4 October 2007 World celebrates Animal World Day on 4 October . Syria is one of the formers countries who celebrates annually , with many activities that embodies the interest and concerning with the Syrian nature; the diversity, and the protection. Syria has huge international wealth of animals and birds, that some of which occupy international state in the field of the environmental concern as, they may became extinct or rare. Or for their importance in the field of the researches and the environmental studies and else. This year, Animal Protection Project SPANA in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Al-Baath University generalizes the Syrian Hamster as the animal who must be focused since its international importance. Syrian Hamster is considered as one of the hundred kinds of rodents which are existing in Syria. Its international importance is because he became the most laboratory animal which had been carried on the scientific researches in the world wide. it is rare to find one research among the hundred millions of researches that are carried in the laboratories which didn’t use this kind and beautiful animal in the practical experiments. Also, the Syrian Hamster occupied the first place, as domestic animal which the kids and the young have in their house as one of their families. Although his size didn't exceed 12.5 to 17.5 cm , with life between 2 – 3 years. Syrian Hamster has distinguished golden color which make him the Syrian golden Hamster. He likes, a little, the rabbit. He didn't have tail as the other rodents. But, he is smaller. His eyes are short. In addition to, he has big sinus on the sides of the oral cave, to fill them with seeds in the harvesting season, and to keep it in special stores under the ground to eat it during the rest time of the year. It is registered the existing of 25 kg of seeds in one store under ground which was prepared by one Hamster to keep his winter supplies. So, he was called Abou Khreg , which means who has sinus, in Aleppo. Syrian Hamster was discovered by the English animal scientist, George Robert Walterhouse , who found female hamster near Aleppo , and he called it the golden hamster (Cricetus auratus ). This animal remained neglected for about 100 years, until it was discovered in 1930 in Aleppo ,a family of hamster consists of mother and eight small hamsters. They were carried to Jerusalem in Palestine , where they were grown. They were bigger a little from the hamster who was discovered by Walterhouse. He was called Mesocricetus auratus. This is the scientific Latin name of the Syrian golden hamster. Syrian hamster reached U.K. in 1931. and to United State of American in 1938, where the scientist Adler was the first one who used him in the laboratory experiments in 1948 , in the field of the parasitological researches. France, Britain, Egypt and India were the former countries that used him as laboratory animal. And then he became the most famous laboratory animal in the world. There were a large numbers in the laboratories which may be hundred thousands , which all of them are from one mother came from north of Syria, and specifically from Aleppo. Syrian hamster reached to the sexual activities in 5 – 6 weeks. The genital cycle during fertilization season every 4 days. The bearing time is considered as the shortest among all mammalian animals. It is 16 – 18 days. While it is in the white mouse 21 days, and 31 days in rabbits, 63 days in pigs of guinea. The pregnant female bears about 20 one annually in average about 8. Since 1930, scientists couldn't discover new wild animals in Syria, due to the difficulty of researching among the complex life samples which they live. They dig deep and various tunnels in the ground to facilitate hiding and running. But scientists in 1997 and 1999 could find new families. They catch seven males and six females, which one of them was pregnant and beard six new hamsters. The nineteenth animals in addition to three others were taken from Aleppo University, were carried to Germany to generated new different breed from the old breed which was discovered in 1930. The Syrian golden hamster whom we celebrate this year, is considered as one element of the Syrian environment elements , which in it, thousands kindsof birds, animals , and insects in natural harmony , which is disordered by the careless and sometimes unjust interference of human. We have to remember always, that we are partners on this earth with the other creatures and plants . we are disable, whatever we develop ourselves, to live alone on this beautiful planet. So, we have to make the World Animal Day, and all environmental days , as the Arabian Environment Day , and the World Environment Day , as the days which we prove , we humans, that we deserve this participating life with the other creatures which live with us. - We are responsible today, to look at all environmental contents, with respect. If these contents were small or big. So many small insects killed thousands people, and so many small animals could save millions people. We have to try to work together to contribute in protecting the animals and environment by: - Restrict the contamination in all its kinds. - Restrict the unjust hunting - Restrict the dryness and deterioration - Restrict cutting trees and misuse the environment and burning the forests. - Contributing for cleaning and protecting the environment - Acknowledge the elements of the live Syrian environment. Plants, animals and their roles in the biodiversity , and protect them and their natural sources. - Concerning with the scholar environment and make it beauty. - Contributing with the scholar environmental activities and non scholar for shine beautiful Syria
